[origin: WO9629211A1] A heating or air conditioning apparatus based on the air mixing principle has a heat exchanger (2) centrally arranged in a main air channel (1), transversely to an inflowing cold air stream. An air mixing chamber (1.1) with air outlets (1.11, 1.12, 1.13, 1.14) is arranged behind the heat exchanger (2). A bypass channel (1.2, 1.3) is arranged between the right, respectively left outer wall (1.4, 1.5) of the preferably rectangular heat exchanger (2) on the one hand and the respective outer side wall of the main air channel (1) on the other hand, to allow the inflowing cold air stream to enter directly the air mixing chamber (1.1), bypassing the heat exchanger (2). At least one air mixing valve (5, 6, 7, 8) that regulates the passage of the cold air stream through the respective bypass channel (1.2, 1.3) may be adjusted in intermediate positions between an opening position for the heat exchanger (2) in which the bypass channel (1.2, 1.3) is closed and a heat exchanger closing position in which the bypass channel is open.
