[origin: EP0761548A1] The device has a spreader element (20) for the bundle (1), and penetrate at least partially into it between two sheets. The element acts with the cutter (10), so that the bundle is spread open and the sheets move past the cutter during the relative movement. The element opens-up the bundle at a spreading point (25), which is positioned in front of the cutting point (15) in direction of movement. The spreader element is located on the same level as the cutter, and at a distance (d), which is defined as a gap between the spreading point and the cutting point.
