[origin: EP0762339A2] The arrangement on a heavy goods vehicle includes basic tachograph equipment (1.1) and operating equipment (1.2) with four different kinds of chip card. These comprise driver's and co-driver's chip cards (1.3a,1.3b), a service chip card (1.4) allowing access for maintenance and adjustment, a control chip card (1.5) for data retrieval, and an employer's chip card for data recording and storage in operation. Also involved are a real-time clock, a driver identification device and a processor which performs real-time processing of vehicular state signals. State data related to the driver are compared with standard data. The results of the monitoring are displayed and/or recorded in a substantially continuous manner.
