[origin: EP0762607A2] A slip ring unit which comprises self-lubricated carbonaceous rings (41) and a wear resistive brush (43) made of laminated-elastic-copper-alloy-sheets (43) are used to supply a field current to a field coil (34) which is carried by a rotor of an alternator. Therefore, the space for accommodating the brush (43) and slip ring unit (6) of the alternator is made compact and the alternator size can be made small. <IMAGE>
