[origin: WO9533803A1] A new class of thermotropic liquid crystalline poly(esteramides) consists essentially of monomer units derived from about 5 to about 80 mole % of 4-hydroxybenzoic acid, about 5 to about 35 mole % of 2,6-naphthalenedicarboxylic acid, about 3 to about 20 mole % of terephthalic acid, about 5 to about 35 mole % of 1,4-hydroquinone, about 2 to about 30 mole % of 4-aminophenol, and optionally up to about 10 mole % of 4,4'-biphenol. These poly(esteramides) have exceptionally high heat distortion temperatures compared with their melting temperatures.
