Abstract (en)
The process for making a coloured thermoplastic part with the look of a metallic finish comprises injection moulding the part in coloured thermoplastic then applying to it a protection varnish incorporating flakes of mother of pearl. Pref. the varnish is polyurethane based containing about 2 wt.% of mother-of-pearl flakes of 50-150 micrometer size. The coloured thermoplastic is polypropylene containing 20% coloured talc with the following pigment loadings: 0.25-0.35% white 6; 0.02-0.05% blue 29; 0.4-0.9% yellow 53; 0.01-0.06% black 7.

L'invention concerne un procédé de fabrication d'une pièce de couleur en matière thermoplastique, présentant un aspect de finition métallisée, selon lequel on moule ladite pièce par injection d'une matière thermoplastique colorée. Selon l'invention,on applique sur ladite pièce moulée colorée, un vernis de protection qui intègre des paillettes de nacre conférant à ladite pièce l'aspect de finition métallisée souhaité. Application à la fabrication d'enjoliveurs de roues de véhicules automobiles.
