[origin: EP0764502A1] The drill has a measurement device (12) for the reaction torque connected to its electric drive motor (3). A control device (C) contains an evaluation unit (E) connected to the measurement device. The controller regulates the revolution rate of the tool holder (9) to maximise the reaction torque measured at the drive motor during drilling. The reaction torque measurement device (12) contains strain gauges or weighing cells which are mounted on the suspension for the electric drive moor within the drill housing. The controller regulates the speed according to stored reaction torque/speed range relationships.
