Abstract (en)
[origin: WO9632212A1] A levelling machine with overlapping rollers including a fixed housing (1) containing two levelling assemblies (2, 2') each comprising a plurality of active levelling rollers (21) with parallel axes rotatably mounted in a supporting frame (4) and each combined with at least one row of support wheels (22), each assembly being applied to a strong base (3) on the opposite side from the sheet to be levelled. Said frame (4) supporting at least one of the levelling assemblies (2) includes a holder (40) enclosing a plurality of adjacent crossbeams (5) individually slidably mounted in said holder (40), and each active roller (21) engages only one corresponding beam (5) via its support wheels (22), while each beam (5) individually engages the base (3) via at least two rams (6) distributed along the beam (5). In particular, the degree of overlap of each active roller and the forces exerted thereon may be adjusted separately to enable the levelling force to be varied even when the sheet is moving. Said machine and said method are particularly suitable for cold levelling metal sheets.
