[origin: EP0765806A1] The system consists of a rotary roller (2) fitted parallel to the craft's boom (1), and a coaxial drive situated at the end of the roller adjacent to the mast. The mainsail (10) is able to slide relative to the mast by means of a bolt-rope (34) sliding in a groove (17, 18) in a profile member (20) which is able to pivot parallel to and at a distance from the mast, to which it is connected by supports (23, 24). The profile member (20) is fixed to the boom so that the end of its slot is held in line with the axis of the boom and adjacent to the point on the roller on which the bolt-rope is rolled. The system also incorporates two pulleys (30, 31) which are connected to the profile member at the top of the mast, with the cable (25) passing round them connected to the upper end of the mainsail.
