[origin: EP0766278A2] The switch has a cylindrical arc extinction chamber (1) with an arc extinction zone (17) between fixed and movable contacts (4,5) and a blast volume (9) coupled to the shaft (7) of the movable contact (5) and connected via at least one flow channel (16) to an insulation jet (11). The arc extinction chamber has a first compression volume (21) coupled to the blast volume and a second compression space (23), with an auxiliary piston (22) between them, operated by the movement of the movable contact.
