[origin: EP0768429A1] The safety barrier has a holding bar (1) with a projecting support (5) for a barrier, in order to protect a rail section (3) on a track, and has equipment (4) to form a detachable fastening with the rail. The bar has a retaining region (6), which grips around the profile of the rail against the force of an elastic spring element (7). The element is in the form of a helical compression spring (17), which is supported against an abutment which limits the maximum possible travel of the retaining region in the direction of a retaining stop (9). The abutment is attached to a profile component (15) on the fixed retaining stop at a place which at a distance from the stop part (13).
