[origin: EP0769425A2] The airbag housing is formed by two mirror-symmetrical half shells (1,2) with integral moulded side wall halves (3,4) and connecting mechanism (5,6). The side wall halves have recesses (7) for holding a cylindrical gas generator. Outwardly protruding flanges (10,11) are moulded on the half shells in the base side connecting area to adjoin one another in the assembled state. The flanges extend only parallel to the dividing plane of the housing and are designed for inserting self-tapping screws (5) which pass through both flanges.
