[origin: DE19517009A1] The invention concerns an injection-moulding machine for thermoplastics, the machine having at least one plastifier unit (10), at least one injection-moulding cylinder (11) with its associated discharge piston (18), and at least one mould (12). The injection-moulding cylinder (11) is fitted with a sleeve (16) which is disposed so that it can move back and forth between a position in which the connection to the mould is cut off and a position in which the connection to the mould is established. In the position in which no connection to the mould exists, there is a passage between the sleeve (16) and housing (14) which is connected to the feed channel (46) from the plastifier unit (10) and also to the storage space (27) inside the sleeve (16). The outside diameter of the discharge piston (18) is slightly smaller than the internal diameter of the sleeve (16) so that, between the two, there remains an annular gap through which the plastic can enter from one end (28) of the sleeve (16) into the storage space (27).
