[origin: DE4424419A1] The invention concerns a method of manufacturing compostable mouldings in particular for disposable articles used for packaging or staple products from a mixture of components consisting mainly of plant material which is used to produced pellets, the pellets then being shaped under pressure and heat into mouldings. The proposed mixture contains the following components: (a) 25-65 wt % cellulose-containing plant fibres; (b) 0-50 wt % cellulose-containing plant waste or processing residues in finely divided form; (c) 5-45 wt % natural resins and/or waxes and, optionally, minerals in finely divided form and/or in the form of grains or dust; softening agents with hygroscopic properties, natural colouring agents and parting agents. The pellets made from this mixture are then shaped into mouldings at a temperature of between 120 and 160 DEG C.
