[origin: DE4446242A1] The invention concerns a fuel injection unit for an internal combustion engine. The unit comprises an injection valve (10), a fuel vaporiser (16) into the intake aperture of which fuel can be injected by the inlet valve (10) and from the outlet aperture (19) of which a fuel jet issues; and an air supply unit (25) which supplies air to the fuel vaporiser (16) for mixing with the fuel jet. In order to improve the fuel discharge from the fuel vaporiser (16), it is proposed that the air supply unit (25) should be provided with an air expulsion unit (24, 24') in the vicinity of the outlet aperture (19) of the fuel vaporiser (16) through which the air to be added is introduced into the fuel jet issuing from the fuel vaporiser (16).
