[origin: EP0770461A2] A first sawing station (6) has at least four first circular saw blades, which are located pairwise in common, counterpoised parallel planes. They produce four first saw cuts in the tree trunk. A second sawing station (7) has at least four other circular saw blades, which are located pairwise in common, counterpoised parallel planes, and are orientated at an angle of 90 to the planes of the saw blades of the first sawing station. The second circular saw blades have the task of cutting at least four second saw cuts in the tree trunk, separating four laths (10). The first sawing station has a total of eight circular saw blades, as does the second sawing station. In each case, four blades have a larger diameter than the remainder.
