Abstract (en)
[origin: EP0770503A1] The lid has a supple peripheral seal (11) which is applied to the outer rim (13, 13') of the paint tin (5) when the agitator lid is closed. The seal comprises an annular member (17) which is fixed to the base of the lid and pressed against the paint tin rim, and an inner supple seal lip (19) which is fixed to the annular member (17) and applied to the inner rim (15, 15') of the paint tin opening when the lid is closed. The supple lip is made in one piece with the outer member of the seal, e.g. by moulding from a supple synthetic material which is resistant to paint solvents. It has a regular cross-section which tapers inwards, and slopes downwards from the outer member at an angle slightly greater than the maximum slope between the inner and outer rims, e.g. 30 degrees. The radial length of the supple lip (19) is slightly greater than the maximum radial length between the outer and inner rims, e.g. some 15 mm; it can also have an inner elastic reinforcing element.
