[origin: EP0770915A2] The handling device has a guide (10) matched in cross-section to the size and shape of the film cassettes (11-13). The film cassettes are displaced along the guide, in the direction of their film reel axes under their own weight. A rotation device (22,24) at the bottom end of the guide rotates the film cassettes through 90 degrees from a position in which the film reel axes are vertical to a position in which the film reel axes are horizontal. A further device rotates the film cassettes through 90 degrees so that their film reel axes are vertical, with a number of film reel cassettes received in a replaceable magazine, with a retaining slider (4) blocking the end of the guide when the magazine is full.
