[origin: EP0771610A1] The apparatus incorporates several rotating grinding tools which are arranged side by side over the length of the roll working surface and, together with the tool carrier, move parallel to the roll axis in an oscillatory mode within a guide structure. The guide structure (5) with the tool carrier (6) is mounted on a support roll (2), and is independently pivotable about the axis of rotation of this roll.
