[origin: EP0771666A2] A printer includes a carriage 22, a printing head 16, a platen 18, a rear feed roller 34 and a front feed roller 32. The feed rollers are rotatable in two rotational directions, so that a sheet can be fed to the platen 18 in the front feed direction and in the rear feed direction. A rear tractor 40, a front tractor 38, a rear cut sheet feeder 36, and a front cut sheet feeder 36 can be selectively arranged in the casing 12 of the printer for feeding a cut sheet or a continuous form to the platen 18. Also, a sheet can be manually fed from a table 42. The rear tractor 40 is arranged such that a continuous form is directly fed from the rear tractor 40 to the platen 18 through a gap between the rear feed roller 34 and the platen 18. <IMAGE>
