[origin: EP0772996A2] A dishwasher, washing machine or a similar appliance has a door with a manually openable door fastener. The whole of the door surface is covered by a front plate (6). The plate (6) is fastened on the outer door sheet in such a way that it can be lifted off by the extent of a small gap (S) or shifted in relation to the appliance door (4) on the plate plane to a small extent for the purpose of locking the door (4). The front plate (6) comprises a release lever (18) or similar device on its rear side facing the door fastener.
