Abstract (en)
[origin: EP0773181A1] The mechanism consists of a fixed flexible strap (1) or rigid rail, attached to a fixed member of the door structure. A mobile inertia roller (10) is situated in a housing (3) attached to the mobile member. The roller is located in a recess in the housing with a lower vertical (8) and an upper inclined (9) wall. The roller is normally held by a spring (11) towards the lower end of the recess. In the event of an uncontrolled fall the roller moves into the upper end of the recess by inertia and wedges against the strap to halt the fall.
