[origin: EP0774302A1] The separating process can separate solid particles differing in form, size or thickness. In the case of material consisting of flakes of different thickness, the material is fed onto a sieve (4). The sieve is vibrated, causing the particles below a certain thickness to pass through angled slits in the sieve. The endface or narrow side surfaces of the particles are directed at an angle to the sieve plane. The sieve slits are of a known width to sort the material as required. A further sorting by density can be achieved by blowing air onto the sieve from below.
