Abstract (en)

[origin: EP0774761A1] An upright container for storing dangerous waste is cylindrical or prismatic and open at the top for filling, with resilient strips (2) extending the length of the container wall and deformable radially to offer frictional resistance to the pushing of compacted blocks of waste (5), of similar cross-section to the container, downwards into the container. Also claimed is a process for filling the container with at least one waste block (5) using a remote handling assembly, which pushes the block(s) into the container overcoming the resistance of strips (2).
