[origin: DE4428644A1] Oversaturated, aqueous solutions with an acid pH of mixtures of aluminium triformiate with alkaline and/or alkaline-earth formiate contain low molecular weight polycarboxylic acids with a mean molecular weight in a range from 500 to 10,000. These solutions represent concentrated forms of an aqueous, dissolved mineral tanning substance based on aluminium triformiate useful for tanning leather and/or pelts with little or no chromium. These solutions are clear, limpid and storage stable.
