Abstract (en)
[origin: EP0775936A1] This invention provides a silver halide photographic element comprising a silver halide emulsion in reactive association with a dioxide compound represented by the following formula: <CHEM> wherein b is C(O), C(S), C(Se), CH2 or (CH2)2; and R<1> and R<2> are independently H, or aliphatic, aromatic or heterocyclic groups, or R<1> and R<2> together represent the atoms necessary to form a five or six-membered ring or a multiple ring system. This invention further provides a method of making silver halide emulsions containing the dioxide compounds.
