One aspect of the invention is a laminate which comprises: (i) a film of high density polyethylene laminated to (ii) an oriented web wherein (i) is biaxially oriented such that the ratio of the deformation ratio in the transverse direction to the deformation ratio in the machine direction is greater than 1.
