Abstract (en)

[origin: WO9606176A1] Recombinant vector carrying a gene coding for a promotor-dependent kinase and capable, when expressed in the cells transformed by the vector, of bringing out the phosphorylation of nucleoside analogues such as aciclovir or ganciclovir leading to the death of the cell by blocking the replication process. The recombinant vector is characterized in that the kinase-coding gene is the thymidine kinase gene of type 1 herpes simplex virus (HSV1-TK) deleted in the 5' portion of all or part of the sequence upstream from the second ATG initiation codon corresponding to the methionine 46 of the complete protein.
