Abstract (en)

[origin: WO9701502A1] The invention concerns a method and device for winding up a continuous web of paper (9) onto a reel-spool (11), as large a part as possible of the resultant wound roll (12) having a high degree of winding hardness (WH). The invention is characterized in that a relatively soft intermediate layer is formed between the wound roll (12) with a high degree of hardness and the winding core (11). For this purpose, it is ensured in a brief initial phase of the winding-up process that the winding hardness (WH) is relatively slight in the innermost layers of the wound roll (12). Subsequently, there is an immediate transition to a relatively high winding hardness (WH) which is substantially maintained during the remainder of the winding-up process. Alternately, the relatively soft intermediate layer can also be formed as a result of the reel-spool (11A-11D) comprising a soft covering (41, 42, 43, 44, 45, 46, 47) on a metal reel-spool body (40).
