[origin: EP0779239A1] The device controls the lifting gear on a crane, especially on a crane which has a jib which can be elevated and whose length can be adjusted. The lifting gear has a drum (1) which is driven by a hydraulic motor (2). The motor is in a closed hydraulic circuit which has a high-pressure pipe (6) from a pump (11), and which is fitted with a pressure gauge (8). The signal from the pressure gauge and from equipment (20) to determine the torque on the lifting gear drum are fed to a comparator. The comparator together with a processor in a control unit (10) matches the pressure in the pipe to the moment which is applied to the motor and which corresponds to that on the drum, by a corresponding increase or decrease in the power of the pump.
