[origin: EP0779413A1] A device (1) for automatically topping-up a container (2) with liquid, provided with a pump (4) having a piston (50) moving in a chamber (49) having an intake orifice (51) connected to a liquid collecting reservoir (5) and a delivery orifice (53) connected to the container (2), with means (8, 10) for actuating the pump (4), with a sensor assembly (15, 33, 60) adapted to enable a topping-up cycle to be carried out if the level of liquid in the container (2) is below a desired level (L3), and with an electronic control unit (58) which is connected to said actuating means (8, 10) and to the sensor assembly (15, 33, 60), and which energises for intervals of time T2 of preset duration the actuating means (8, 10) to carry out successive topping-up cycles in response to an enabling signal (S) generated by the sensor assembly (15, 33, 60). <IMAGE>
