[origin: EP0780500A1] Reaching-in of warp threads into the reed (13), healds (17) and drop wires (23) of a loom by a threading device (9) is carried out by taking the ends (3) of the warp threads singly to a transfer station (36) immediately in front of the reed (13) in a first motion. At this point they are picked up by the threading device (9) and threaded through in a second motion (12). Preferably in the first motion (5) the warp thread ends (3) are picked up by clamps (8) attached to an endless chain (4) and taken round a peg (7) ready to be picked up by the threading hook (9). The clamps (8) are opened and closed as they pass cam rails and the threads form a staggered sequence (39) in a plane parallel to the motion (12) of the threading hook (9). The hook (9) moves at several times the speed of the first motion and is synchronised with the movement of the components to be threaded along a path (22) transverse to the hook motion.
