Abstract (en)

[origin: EP0780559A2] The method involves feeding fuel from a low pressure region into a high pressure region in which the fuel pressure is detected by a pressure sensor and is regulated by a pressure regulator. If there is a defect in the pressure regulating device, the fuel pressure is controlled by influencing the flow of fuel in the low pressure region. The flow of fuel in the low pressure region is interrupted if the pressure in the high pressure region rises above a predefined level. The flow is released when the pressure in the high pressure region falls below a second predefined level.
