[origin: EP0780742A2] The mobile shutter (2) for covering a watch mechanism (1) includes a pair of side flanks (3) screwed to the sides of a rectangular watch casing (4). The flanks each provide a groove (33) facing inwards. The grooves include straight sections along the length of the sides of the watch casing, and curved sections linking the ends of the grooves around the ends of the watch casing. The sliding cover which forms the shutter is made up from a series of parallel rods (21) which are joined together at their ends by links (26). On the end of each rod there is a roller (24) which runs in the groove in the corresponding flank, thus enabling the shutter to slide around the watch casing. The shutter may be held in a required position by the action of a stop (9) and a brake device. An operating button (27) is provided on the leading rod to allow the shutter to be drawn forwards or backwards.
