[origin: EP0780803A2] The machine is equipped with a modem (23), a chip card write/read unit (20) and a keyboard (2). Its microprocessor (6) operates with a program memory (11) and a battery-backed non-volatile random-access memory in a date-and-time module (8). After call-up of stored current data a routine is started including subroutines of manual entry, request data formation, and automatic input and checking of print data. Communication is established with a remote data centre from which partial image data are transmitted to the machine. The updating subroutine automatically positions the partial images and leads to changes in a control database.
