The optical monitoring system uses a light path or light barrier device (20,21,22), for detecting the position of the movable switch bolt (3), with a monitoring signal provided in one or both switch positions of the latter. The light path or light barrier device may have a single light source (20) and a pair of photodetectors (21,22) respectively providing a monitoring signal when the switch bolt is in the 'off' or 'on' position.

Die Erfindung bezieht sich auf ein neuartiges optisches Überwachungssystem für einen Trennschalter, insbesondere einen Hoch- oder Mittelspannungsschalter, der wenigstens einen in einem Gehäuse in einer Achsrichtung zwischen einem Zustand "EIN" und einem Zustand "AUS" bewegbaren Schaltbolzen (3), der einen ersten Schalterkontakt bildet, sowie wenigstens einen mit dem Schaltbolzen (3) zusammenwirkenden zweiten Schalterkontakt (15) aufweisen, wobei die Stellung des Schaltbolzens (3) mitttels einer im Gehäuse (2) vorgesehenen Lichtstrecken- oder Lichtschrankenanordung (20,21,22) überwacht wird. <IMAGE>
