[origin: EP0782906A1] Tubes to be ballasted are advanced in end-to-end relationship into the station for depositing the ballasting concrete. The tube which in its advancing movement is disposed level with the station is rotated in order that the concrete covering may be deposited simultaneously as the reinforcement is wound on helically. A sawing tool (15) is disposed on a carriage movable parallel to the axial movement of the ballasted tube (4) and is operated downstream of the ballasting station and the ballast covering is cut level with the joint plane between the two tubes interconnected by the ballast covering. One such tube is completely covered while the other is being covered, the cutting tool being moved synchronously with the advancing movement of the two rotating tubes.
