Abstract (en)

[origin: WO9610679A1] The invention concerns a rod-type closure preferably for locking switch cupboard or similar doors or hinged lids. The rod-type closure comprises a flat strip rod (18) which is disposed such that it extends parallel to the edge of the door, preferably in the canting space (10), and has at least one locking part (34) disposed thereon. The rod-type closure also has a closure element (32), disposed on the door frame (24), for accommodating the locking part (34) such that it is locked. The rod-type closure further comprises an actuating device (14) for the longitudinal displacement of the flat strip rod (18) between an opening and a locking position. According to the invention, in order to form the locking part (34), the flat strip rod (18) is offset out of its longitudinal plane over at least part of its longitudinal extension and the profile of the flat strip rod (18) forms with one of its narrow edges, in or adjacent the offset portion, the locking surface over which engages a hook part (36) of the closure element (32), said hook part being disposed parallel to the plane of the flat strip rod.
