[origin: WO9611406A1] An apparatus for identifying, tracking and processing a biological sample (104) stored on a solid medium (105) including a sample recognising/recalling identification station (101), a processing station (103), a tracking station (102) that tracks the sample through the other stations (101, 103) and an interactive networking of the stations. Also disclosed is a cannula (1) connectable in fluid communication to an automatic fluid delivery system constructed with a primary fluid aspirating and dispensing port (6) and at least one auxiliary fluid aspirating and dispensing port (7). A method of removing a by-product from a biopolymer reaction mixture using a polymeric gel is also disclosed.
