A hollow workpiece (11) is deformed in a mould (12) having inner contours (13,14) which corresponds to the required final shape of the workpiece. Particulate material (43) is fed through the central channel in a mandrel (18) which can move vertically down into the material (43). The end of the mandrel is cone-shaped with outlets (46) directly behind the cone tip.

Damit bei einer Vorrichtung zur Verformung von Hohlprofil-Werkstücken aus Metall mit einer Preßform (12), deren Innenkontur (13, 14) der zu erzeugenden Form des Werkstücks (11) entspricht, und einer Preßvorrichtung, mit der nach dem Schließen der Preßform (12) ein aus Feststoffteilen bestehendes Umformmaterial (43) in die Preßform eingebracht wird und das Werkstück (11) unter Anlegen an die Innenkontur (13, 14) der Preßform (12) verformt, eine einfachere und weniger aufwendige Konstruktion der Vorrichtung sowie kürzere Taktzeiten zu erreichen, ist vorgesehen, daß die Vorrichtung so angeordnet ist, daß die Längsachse ein Dorns (18) zur Druckerzeugung im wesentlichen nicht horizontal ausgerichtet ist, daß der Dorn (18) in einer nicht horizontal verlaufenden Richtung in das Umformmaterial (43) einpreßbar ist und daß der Dorn (18) zumindest eine Längsbohrung (44) mit wenigstens einer nach außen führenden Auslauföffnung (46) für das Umformmaterial (43) aufweist. <IMAGE>
