Abstract (en)

[origin: DE4436635A1] The present invention concerns a process and device for deacidifying printed or paper products of all types, in particular books. In order to avoid the so-called half-moon effect, i.e. careless handling in the region of a spine (7) owing to the narrow spaces between the individual pages, an air jet, e.g. in the form of a double jet consisting of an opening jet (10) and an active substance jet (11), is positioned relative to the book (1) such that the active substance jet and/or the opening jet is/are substantially introduced from one side (e.g. the underside) of the book (1) and discharged via the opposite side (e.g. the top). Advantageously the opening jet (10) and the active substance jet (11) are inclined towards the spine (7). The active substance jet (11) is moved relative to the book (1) by means of a pivot arm (3).
