[origin: EP0738482A1] The device for removal of unwanted human hair comprises a body (1) within which there is a tape (4) which can be applied to an area of the user's skin (3). The tape is pre-coated with a depilatory coating. Within the body of the device is a sliding support (10) which is able to move vertically w.r.t. the outer casing, with a spring urging it to its upper position away from the user's skin. The tape runs between a pair of rollers (5,7), and passes over a heater (8) in the region where it contacts the skin. Ratchet mechanisms (24,25) ensure the movement of the rollers in the required direction to advance the tape. The lower end of the outer casing provides an aperture, the edges of which serve to hold the skin during the application of the depilatory tape as the mechanism slides down within the casing. This aperture is pref. rectangular.
