Abstract (en)
[origin: EP0786923A2] The system involves a hotplate heated by an electric element (1) in a single-, two- or three-phase power network (2) with a triac (7) switched on by a phototransistor (10) at the interface (4) between power supply and control circuits. Temperature is measured by a resistive track (5) and a pair of electrodes (6) on the underside of the plate. The controller (3) consists of an active microprocessor ( mu p1) and a monitoring microprocessor ( mu p2) supplied with power via an isolating transformer (11). At a preset upper limit of temperature it cuts off or reduces the power supply to the heater. Any control failure produces automatic disconnection by drop-out of a relay (K1).
