[origin: WO9613426A1] A method wherein a submersible (9) is launched (1), the submersible (9) is guided (2) towards a mine (5; 6) by means of a sonar coupled to a tactical control facility (12) on a chaser vessel (8) for continuously classifying and monitoring the location of the submersible (9) relative to the mine (5; 6), a tracking means (13) on the submersible (9) is released once the submersible (9) is within a given range of the mine (5; 6), to provide a target spotting function together with the submersible (9) and the tactical control facility (12) of the vessel (8), navigational parameters required for the attack strategy of the submersible, depending on the kind of mines (5; 6) found and the position of the submersible as referenced by the stationary tracking means (13), are sent (3) to the submersible (9) via the tactical control facility (12), and the mine (5; 6) is destroyed (4) in accordance with the attack strategy acquired by the submersible (9). The method is useful in naval mine warfare.
