[origin: WO9612360A1] A method and a system for synchronising a telecommunication network by transmitting a digital multiplex signal. A periodic reference signal (Re) is generated and transmitted (1000) to the multiplex transmission point and the receiving terminals via a transmission channel that has a stable delay time and is separate from the network. A periodic series of marks (M) correlated with specific multiplex signal times and the reference signal (Re) is generated and inserted (1001) into the digital multiplex signal. Each relative delay generated by the telecommunication network is compensated for locally (1002) to impose a predetermined overall transmission time, whereby broadcasting is synchronised (1003) at each terminal. The method and system are useful for synchronising single-frequency broadcasting networks.
