[origin: EP0787636A2] The section of the vehicle side wall facing the floor (1) is reinforced by a deformation resistant floor channel (4) formed as an extruded section. The overall width of the section measured between the outer and inner faces (4a,b) is greater than the corresponding overall width of the remaining load-bearing structure of the side wall. The floor channel is integrated into the load-bearing structure of the side wall as a component part of the vehicle shell.
