Abstract (en)
[origin: EP0788250A2] The optical interface provides bi-directional optical data transmission using serial, specific pulse-width modulated (PWM) signals. The pulses of the PWM signals have steep flanks and/or pulse amplitude w.r.t. the simultaneous noise signals. The interface transmits data to a receiver which is connected to a differentiator which is in turn connected to a Schmitt trigger. The interface receives data from a programming and/or diagnosis device via an interface converter. The receivers at the interface input and output sides are inactive while the transmitters are active. The optical interface has a micro-controller as its central control unit.
