Date May 9, 1996A metal-halide discharge lamp for photo-optical purposes contains an ionisable fill, comprising mercury, at least one noble gas, at least one halogen, aluminum (Al) and indium (In) as well as gallium (Ga) in addition. By the addition of Ga, typically in the range between 0.02 mg/cm3 and 1 mg/cm3, a reduction in the starting voltage is attained, while maintaining an Ra>85 at color temperatures typically between 5000 K and 11000 K.
