[origin: EP0788849A1] The process is used to make tubes with sections of different wall thickness from a metal sheet (1) which is initially flat. The sheet is first deformed by rolling, in order to form regions which have different thicknesses (S2,S3,S4,S5) in the direction of rolling. The rolled sheet is then cut to size, and is reshaped into a tube, before joining the butting edges. It may also be divided prior to the reshaping stage, into strips which are parallel to the direction of rolling, after which the reshaping and joining processes may be carried out.
