The method of handling hardware failure or breakdown, during a 'track free' announcement, based on the axle count method by overlap of the count-result of a counting point, recognised as a fault, by the count results of counting points on both sides of the faulty count point. For each counting point (ZP3) loaded by several simultaneously possible routes, besides a first axle count result, a second axle count result, dependent on the first, is determined, and for 'free' and 'occupied' (or busy) track announcements for the track section being negotiated, the second axle count is compared with the axle count results of the remaining counting points (ZP21,ZP22) of this track section.

Zählpunkte, deren Achszählabschnitte gleichzeitig durch unterschiedliche Fahrstraßen beansprucht sein können, werden verdoppelt. Die zusätzlichen Zählpunkte (ZP3*) bilden mit den erstgenannten Zählpunkten (ZP3) Achszählabschnitte (AH) für fiktive Gleisabschnitte. Sie bilden zusammen mit den Achszählabschnitten, in die der defekte Zählpunkt (ZP3) eingebunden ist, einen Korrekturabschnitt (KA1). Der Korrekturabschnitt ist räumlich sehr viel enger gefaßt als der nach dem Stand der Technik bislang erforderliche Korrekturabschnitt. Als Folge davon bleiben etwaige Besetztmeldungen auf den tatsächlich befahrenen Gleisabschnitt begrenzt, während über die durch die Störung nicht direkt betroffenen Gleisabschnitte weitere Zugfahrten stattfinden können. <IMAGE>
